Directly Attached Storage (DAS)

Ideal for small organisations, the simple and low cost DAS storage solution allows data to be stored in a local data-sharing environment.

Even in larger organisations, a DAS storage solution can be utilised, working alongside the networked NAS or SAN solutions. It can be used effectively for individual departments or workgroups within the business that do not require data-sharing over a large network.

How it works…

Each individual server/computer within the organisation is connected to a single storage device, be it a tape library or disk drive, which backs up all data and applications on the server/computer.

• Limited sharing flexibility: Resources cannot be shared or managed beyond a single server.
